“The modern solution to rural isolation”
Wheels 2 Work South West is a small charity (no. 1194170) based in Launceston. We offer subsidised two-wheeled transport to people in communities throughout Devon and Cornwall, enabling them to access employment, local services, social opportunities and more. We recently opened our workshop to the public, providing affordable maintenance, repairs and servicing with our multi-franchise trained technician.
We receive funding from various organisations to help us subsidise hire costs, with a key partner being Devon County Council. This helps us to keep our prices low so we can offer affordable transport for anyone who needs it. We are currently searching for funding to save our eBike programme. We will continue to offer the subsidy for a limited time until we can secure further funding to ensure our beneficiaries are not disadvantaged. If you know of any funding that might be suitable for us, please get in touch.

The team consists of 4 members of staff, as pictured. From left to right we have Annie, Max, Cassidy and Kia.
Our programme was established as an amalgamation of three programmes, which we renamed to Devon Wheels 2 Work in 2006. We are proud to say we have supported in excess of 14,000 people into work and education. In summary, our programme offers beneficiaries freedom, independence and choice. In 2021, we became a Charitable Incorporated Organisation and received charity registration, and in April 2026 we celebrated 25 years of our service.
There are a number of Wheels to Work programmes that run across the UK. Some are Charities like us, some Community Interest Companies, some are run by Local Authority and some in other formats. We all have the same aim, which is to offer affordable transport to those who cannot afford to buy and run their own, however we all run our programmes independently.
